Aguilar reveals his soul to his readers in this extraordinary
collection of poems. The poet, determined to mine the deepest parts
of his heart, takes on a mystical, soul seeking journey. Every reader
will be challenged and changed by Aguilar's work. One stanza captures
his consciousness of his union with his Creator, and with these
words, Aguilar won my heart: "Wherever I go, You are... / That
is how I know the world is my house." I want to be the first in
line to buy this inspirational book of poetry. ¡Bravo!
The poet is searching toward the light in our desolate world. I
liked the sorrowful voice that is powerfully extended through this
cold reality. There is a play of light and darkness as if it were a
painting of Velasquez. The voice does not loose hope because what is
sung will be reborn. The poem "Illuminated Mysteries" is
one of the loveliest poems that I have read! Bravo! ...un excelente libro que se puede leer y releer con emoción creciente.
...an excellent book that can be read and re-read with increasing emotion.
It is not often that a poet finds the strength to write not only
of life's sorrows and disappointments, but also of its joys. Julio
Cesar Aguilar seems to find the perfect blending of these two
elements in his collection of poetry Illuminated Mysteries. ...
Throughout the collection he merges this message of hope against the
numerous and often disappointing odds of life. In this assortment he
speaks of the tragic disappointment that existence brings, yet is
always supported by a delicate undercurrent of hope, a undercurrent
that proves to be strong enough to guide the reader through his
collection while slightly bending his lyrical intent towards bliss.
Aguilar's compilation proves to be a journey of the self through the
very oceans of expression and irony that leave the reader wet and
fatigued with hope. |
